We usually do this around day 50 but we are waayy later than that. In theory we should be able to get more right this time. Below is the list we have done for the last few years. Good Luck.
- Every division winner
- Pennant winners
- WS Champion
- Both Cy youngs
- Both Batting Champs
- Both MVPs
- Both RoYs
- Anything else you can think of...
This might be tough actually. 14 teams are either in first place or within 4 games of first in their division.
ReplyDelete1. Red Sox, Indians, Astros, Braves, Brewers, Dbacks. (Yanks, Mariners, Cubs, Phillies are wild cards) Yeah, that's right. The Nats and Dodgers miss the playoffs.
2. The Yankees defeated the Mariners in the WC Playoff game and Fox got what it wishes for every year during the playoffs, A NY/BOS playoff series in the NLDS. Throw the records out for this one, it could go either way but I say the Red Sox get the edge because of starting pitching matchups (better squad plus the yanks will have to burn Severino vs Seattle). Next, In a stunning 7 game series, the Red Sox will defeat the defending champion Houston Astros in the ALCS. Over in the REAL league, after winning their wild card match against the Phillies, the Cubs carried that intensity into the next series by crushing the Braves quickly in 5 games. The bright lights of the big stage was a little too much for the young kids from Atlanta. And while their first taste of the playoffs in years will not be their last (Braves WS champs 2020), The playoff experienced Cubs rolled through them and then took out their division rival Brewers to win the NLCS.
3. How will Joe Buck be able to contain himself after a Red Sox/Cubs 7 games series? He may actually run out of metaphors and references to "Curses" and "Old stadiums rich with history". How do we expect the greatest baseball elocutionist of our time to possibly decide who to root for? I feel sorry for the hundred year old wooden floorboards in the announcing booth as JoJo's unit is sure to be engorged and in a continual flow of ejaculate for those 10 beautiful days in October (and November). The wood will drink his seed faster than an Irishman at an open bar. Hell, baseball might just tell them to go old school and play it best of 9. Imagine it now, NINE games of old timey world series baseball against the Red sox and the Cubbies. It will be just like when daddy Jack called the infamous Black Sox world series back in 1919. OHHH SAY IT AIN'T SO JOE!! Those were the good ol days. But I'm rambling now... Red Sox have better pitching and bats. The Cubs will have to work harder to get to the WS. Red Sox win in 7.
4. It's gonna be a bittersweet day in Detroit as we watch two of our best pitchers take home the Cy young hardware. Verlander will edge out Severino and Kluber while Max solidifies his case for the Hall, getting 20+ first place votes despite missing the playoffs under their first year manager.
5. In what is sure to be a race down the stretch, Altuve will win it again over Mookie. I think the Braves stay hot in the second half and Freddie Freeman is the reason as he wins his first NL batting title.
6. Who knows here. Probably Trout. Right? Doesn't he always win? But the baseball gods are weird and only take guys from playoff teams. And I agree with them. Altuve and Freeman. Same as above.
7. Ronald Acuna and Ohtani
8. Hmm. Max finally breaks 300Ks this season.
